Charlie Rule

Australia's youngest female football player to sign with a Women's Super League club in the UK.

The football sensation began playing at a high level at 11 years old, where she kicked off her NPL career with Sydney University in the Under 12s competition.

From there she caught the eye of the Football NSW Institute, where the best players in the state are handpicked each year in their certain age groups. She started there in 2016, spending the next 5 years playing for the institute, topping off her final year as their Captain in 2021.

It is from these experiences where her professional career truly began to take off.

She began playing for the Sydney FC A-League W team in 2020, where she was the youngest member of the team. She was able to find more consistent playing time in 2021, where she earned Sydney FC “Player of the Match” honours in the grand final. Since signing on, the club has had great success, most recently winning both the Premiership (top of the table) and Championship (won the grand final) in the 2022/23 season.

She has now signed with Women's Super League club, Brighton Hove & Albion, making her the youngest ever Australian female to do so. She is one of 13 Aussies that will be playing in the top flight league this season.

Charlie has also had a lot of success playing at an international level. She has been involved in the various Matilda’s pathway programs since 2020, and in 2021 was lucky enough to be selected in the Matildas squad that took on the US Women’s Team on home soil. Most recently, she played a key role at the U20’s FIFA Women’s World Cup, playing pivotal minutes through all group games for the Young Matildas.

Off the pitch, Charlie has rose to stardom through social media, where Charlie and her best friend Bayley began creating comedic TikTok’s together. What started as a bit of fun together has gone viral, to date they have amassed over 105k followers and 3.4M likes on the platform, and individually Charlie has built up a highly dedicated and engaged Instagram following to match.

Charlie is still only 20 years old, and to have achieved this much already, there is truly no ceiling to her potential.
