When Waratahs forward Will Caldwell last night returned to Sydney after NSW's ''great escape'' against the Queensland Reds on Saturday, he was as relieved as happy for surviving one of the fiercest derbies in years that left him with 26 stitches to the head, a cut finger and a four-hour tribunal in which he was cleared of eye-gouging.
