TODAY SHOW – MEDIA RELEASE

More Melbournians prefer to wake up with Today

than any other breakfast program

At the halfway point of the ratings year, the TODAY show is officially Melbourne’s No. 1 breakfast show for the fifth consecutive year.

TODAY has won the first 21 weeks of the official ratings calendar year, making it unbeatable across the 40-week survey.

TODAY has averaged 114,725 viewers each morning in Melbourne to 91,585 for Sunrise.

Executive producer of TODAY, Tom Malone, says the team is thrilled with its Melbourne victory.

“Melbourne has been an extremely loyal audience for TODAY,” Malone said.

“We love broadcasting the show from Frankston, Geelong, and the Bourke Street Mall. Our dedicated Melbourne bureau, led by our very experienced reporter Christine Ahern, has led the way in broadcasting fast and accurate information on news breaking in Melbourne.”

TODAY co-host Karl Stefanovic says he is humbled by Melbourne’s support.

“The TODAY show has a proud history of being built on strong journalistic values and credibility, something we are a market leader in, and something Melbourne viewers have always recognised,” he said.

Co-host Lisa Wilkinson says the on-air team love visiting Melbourne.

“We all love coming for Fashion Week, the Spring Racing, and of course for Carols by Candlelight at Christmas,” she said.

The ratings victory means the Nine Network is No. 1 at both ends of the day in Melbourne.
