MEDIA RELEASE – LISA WILKINSON ANNOUNCED AS AMBASSADOR FOR JAMIE'S MINISTRY OF FOOD

Jamie Oliver announces NSW location during cooking webcast

New South Wales is set to have its first Jamie’s Ministry of Food Centre, following the announcement today The Good Foundation will open a community-focused food centre teaching basic cooking skills at the Stockland Wetherill Park Shopping Centre, as part of a partnership with Stockland.

During a live webcast to Australia tonight at 6pm AEDT, Jamie Oliver will confirm that Jamie’s Ministry of Food will be expanding into New South Wales, with the centre set to open in August next year.

“I  am so excited that the Ministry of Food is growing and expanding into Western Sydney in New South Wales. This will be our fifth Ministry of Food Kitchen in Australia, following the strong interest we have seen in both Queensland and Victoria. Australia is truly leading the way when it comes to using food education to tackle the problems of diet-related disease – it’s a really positive move in the right direction and something all countries around the world should take note of,” says Jamie.

Stockland CEO Commercial Property, John Schroder, said Stockland always strives to create a better way to live and we see our shopping centres as an important part of the local community. The Good Foundation does great work and we are thrilled to get behind this program, which puts such a strong emphasis on healthy living and healthy meals.

“We’ve just commenced a major, $222 million redevelopment at Stockland Wetherill Park Shopping Centre and we plan to develop the centre as a true foodies’ destination in Western Sydney. We want to deliver more choice and greater opportunities to our customers and Jamie’s Ministry of Food will be located at the heart of our new precinct,” said John Schroder, CEO Commercial Property Stockland.

Founding partner The Good Guys and Stockland have kick started the project, with funding support however further funding is required.

To celebrate the announcement, newly appointed Jamie’s Ministry of Food Ambassador and TV identity Lisa Wilkinson will host a cook-along at the Wetherill Park Shopping Centre, with Jamie live from his kitchen in London.   Special guests will include Jamie’s old friend Tobie Puttock.

With hundreds of Jamie fans expected to tune in across the country, Jamie will cook up spaghetti with creamy bacon and pea sauce, a deconstructed tomato salad and quick berry ice cream.

Lisa Wilkinson says she is proud to be a part of the food movement that is gaining momentum across the country.

“This program is something I  am very passionate about, particularly as a mother of three.  Cooking skills used to be passed down from generation to generation, but now that chain has been broken. As a working mum, I know how hard it can be to find time to put a nutritious meal on the table.  We could all do with a little bit of inspiration and guidance.”

Jamie’s Ministry of Food is a program designed to inspire people to get back to basics in the kitchen, cooking meals from scratch using fresh ingredients. It empowers people, through giving them the knowledge, skills and confidence to cook at home and make some simple, but powerful changes to the way they eat and feed their families.

The Good Foundation is a not-for-profit organisation, which partnered with Jamie Oliver and The Good Guys to deliver Jamie’s Ministry of Food in Australia.
