MARK BOURIS EXPANDS HIS PODCAST FOOTPRINT TO FIGHT FOR AUSTRALIAN SMALL BUSINESS AND ENTREPRENEURSHIP.

MB Headshot

In May 2021, Mark Bouris will open his first purpose-built podcast studio in Victoria Street Darlinghurst to help spearhead the reinvigoration of small businesses in the high streets of Sydney and across Australia.

Since 2016 Bouris’ top rating Podcast, ‘The Mentor’, has enjoyed its positioning as one of Australia’s most vital and sought-after business Podcasts on the PodcastOne Australia platform.

Mark Bouris recognises the absolute importance of every, single business that makes up the 2.4 million small and medium-size businesses across this great country, businesses which employee 60% of the private sector workforce. This phenomenal statistic and the lack of direction and education available for those deep in their own business journey, inspired him to set up The Mentor Podcast and Mentored platform.

On the weekly podcasts he has interviewed hundreds of small business owners of every stripe, across this great country and is continually astounded as to how many of them are in need of help.

“Most business owners are too proud to seek help or too goddamn busy to even think about it. It’s tough. However, tough times don’t last, but tough people do”.

Mark Bouris never set out to build an unrivalled community of small business owners, entrepreneurs, and thought leaders – those that make up the backbone of Australia’s economy – but, as the saying goes, if you build it, they will come. With ‘The Mentor’ platform and podcasts, they have come and are still coming.

Bouris set up his podcast out of a humble studio under the iconic Coke sign in Sydney’s Kings Cross, five years ago. This was well before any major podcasting platforms were established in Australia and was more of a social experiment than anything else. Since then, he has built an incredible audience for this Podcast, across many social channels, along with digital and live events.

The Mentor was one of the first Podcast series acquired by PodcastOne Australia in early 2017 and Mark has been with them since then.”PodcastOne Australia has been one of the true leaders in the digital audio space and have been a great partner of mine across the whole Southern Cross Austereo business”. In 2021 with the launch of Bouris’ new studio in Darlinghurst, that partnership with PodcastOne Australia will come to an end. “I want to thank Grant Tothill, my current Producer Tina Matolov and the incredible sales and production team”.

Grant Tothill GM of Digital Audio at Southern Cross Austereo said “Mark was a foundation partner of PodcastOne Australia and has been a great ambassador for SCA and its efforts to grow the medium of Podcasting in Australia with the Mentor Podcast over the last 4 years. The Mentor offering has diversified over the years to be a far more comprehensive content play for SMEs and it’s time for Mark to bring all of this together in one place. We wish him all the best.
