Celebrated a 15-year career in first-grade and representative football, winning the illustrious Dally M Medal in 1985. Widely known as the man who captained the Panthers to their first premiership. Currently a commentator with Fox Sports and noted rugby league journalist.

Greg Alexander reached the rugby league summit as a player during an astonishing and celebrated 15-year career in first-grade and representative football.He led the Penrith Panthers to NRL glory as its captain and chief playmaker in 1991, collected the game’s highest award – Dally M Player of the Year – in only his second season of first-grade (1985) and toured England and France with two Ashes-winning Kangaroo touring teams (1986 and 1990).

He will always be remembered as the man who captained the Panthers to their first premiership – leading them to a stirring victory over the Canberra Raiders.

These days the former international playmaker is entertaining television and radio audiences with his deep knowledge not only of rugby league but of sport generally. During the NRL season, Greg ‘Brandy’ Alexander is a commentator and analyst with Fox Sports and year round he and another former international halfback John Gibbs present the weekly Sports Today program on Sydney radio station 2UE.

Greg Alexander’s astute and incisive knowledge of rugby league and, indeed, all sports have made him one of the most popular and respected members of the sporting media. An excitement machine with his sharp speed and creativity, Alexander played 227 first-grade matches for the Penrith Panthers (1984-94 and 1997-99), crossing the Tasman for a two-season, 37-match stint with the Auckland Warriors (1995-96). In all, he amassed 1,164 points for the two clubs, including 101 tries for the Panthers.

Greg Alexander played six matches for NSW Origin between 1989 and 1991 and played six Tests for the Australian Kangaroos overseas and in Australia.
