The Wolf of Wall Street receives five 2014 Oscar nominations

The Wolf of Wall Street – the blockbuster movie portraying the infamous New York stockbroker Jordan Belfort – has received five nominations for the 2014 Academy Awards.

The nominations were announced by actor Chris Hemsworth and Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences President Cheryl Boone Isaacs in Hollywood on Thursday. The winners will be unveiled during the gala event in Los Angeles on March 2.

The Wolf of Wall Street has been nominated for best picture, Leonardo DiCaprio for best male actor in the role of Jordan Belfort, Martin Scorsese for best directing,  Jonah Hill for best acting in a supporting role and Terence Winter for best adapted screenplay.

The movie is based on Jordan Belfort’s best-selling books The Wolf of Wall Street and Catching The Wolf of Wall Street.
