Sydney University second-rower Will Caldwell has made rapid progress since being contracted by the NSW Waratahs.
On the end-of-season European tour in 2005, he was voted the Waratahs oustanding forward. In two matches on tour, he was chosen as vice-captain.
The tough-as-teak lock, now a regular selection in the Waratahs 22-man squad, has been contracted by the Waratahs, 2005 Super 12 finalists, until the end of the 2008 season.
A member of Sydney University's premiership-winning team in 2005, Caldwell made his Super 14 debut as a starting player against the Queensland Reds in round 1 of the 2006 competition. He scored his maiden Super 14 try against the Western Force in Perth in round six.
Born and bred in the NSW country town of Young, Caldwell, 198cm tall and 112kgs, has enjoyed a rapid rise in representative rugby since leaving The King's School in 2000.
Following his selection in Australian Schoolboy, Australian under 19 and NSW under 21 representative teams he secured his first contract with the NSW Waratahs for seasons 2005-2006.
