From there, Jodie ‘went bush’ to begin her journalism career at Radio 2NM in Muswellbrook – doing everything from reading the news, to presenting a local current affairs show, to reading funeral announcements and ads for the local butcher.
Then came stints at Sydney’s 2SM, WSFM and 2UE, where Jodie became the Crime Reporter – covering the Gordon Wood murder trial, Sydney’s bikie wars and anything that went bang in the night requiring an urgent 2am call out.
In 2009, Jodie made the switch to television – becoming a political correspondent for the Seven Network in its Parliament House bureau. She covered the oustings of Kevin Rudd and Malcolm Turnbull, and spent five weeks on the road with Julia Gillard and Tony Abbott as they fought for victory in the 2010 election.
These days Jodie lives back in Sydney with husband Ben. She specialises in covering courts for 7 News – but on any given day can go from the courtroom to a helicopter, a crime scene to a fashion parade – just the way she likes it.
